Zirconia is the ringmaster of the Dead Moon Circus and appears as Queen Nehelenia's right-hand servant in crystal.
Etymology[]
Zirconia can be synthesized for use as a gemstone or imitation diamond.
Information[]
The movie opens with Zirconia speaking to her Queen through the mirror about their upcoming conquest of Earth. Using the solar eclipse, the Dead Moon Circus arrives in Azabu-Juban and begins their takeover.
At the Dead Moon Circus, Zirconia sits on her throne in front of a tiger, a hawk, and a fish. Her servants, the Amazoness Quartet (JunJun, VesVes, CereCere, and PallaPalla), appear, and PallaPalla uses an Amazon Stone to conjure a dark barrier around the city where the circus is.
PallaPalla and VesVes discover intruders who tried to break through her barrier: Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon. After they retreat, Zirconia's eyeball servant, Zircon, spies on them. Queen Nehelenia takes note of the Silver Crystal and the reincarnated Sailor Guardians from the Silver Millennium from inside her mirror. Zirconia assures Nehelenia she remembers them, and Nehelenia orders her to retrieve the crystal and let their nightmares take hold of them. Zirconia leaves this up to the Quartet who delegate to the Amazon Trio along with Xenotime and Zeolite.
On the day the Circus opens, Zirconia acts as the ringmaster in the Big Top as the Amazoness Quartet perform. They drain energy from the unsuspecting crowd using Lemures in a bid to "revive" Nehelenia. The performance is interrupted by the failure of Tiger's Eye; however.
After the Quartet's minions have all failed they spring into action themselves and capture the Inner Sailor Guardians. Using the power they've generated from many circus performances, Zironia places a large black moon in the sky which covers the sun and engulfs the Earth in darkness. The planet's civilians fall to nightmare. The Outer Senshi arrive and save their fellow Sailor Guardians leaving the Quartet outnumbered and outgunned. Zirconia joins them and taunts their enemies and uses the curse on Super Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask to attack them leaving their enemies in shock and affording the Quartet a chance to escape.
The Quartet are followed by Super Sailor Saturn and Super Sailor Chibi Moon who start breaking the nightmare placed on the four girls making them forget who they truly are. Zirconia arrives and calls the Quartet traitors and traps them in Amazoness Quartet and encases the other two within shards of glass. She delivers all 6 to Queen Nehelenia within her mirror.
Zirconia returns to the remaining Senshi and conjures a hot, suffocating dark fog around the Sailor Guardians and Tuxedo Mask. They all start passing out and succumbing to it. Helios uses the last of his power to send the purifying crystals from Elysion to the surface, blocking Zirconia's fog, and he passes out. With him out of the way, Zirconia then traps the Sailor Guardians and Tuxedo Mask in a nightmare. Tuxedo Mask breaks free on his own and snaps the Sailor Guardians out of it as well. All the Sailor Guardians except Sailor Moon combine their power to use Sailor Planet Power Meditation to injure Zirconia who retreats into a circus tent. Sailor Moon follows Zirconia into Nehelenia's mirror, which blocks the others from following.
Sailor Moon is unable to hurt Queen Nehelenia in the mirror but Super Sailor Mercury and Super Sailor Jupiter smash it from the outside. Breaking the mirror kills Nehelenia inside and makes the world in there unstable. Zirconia remains inside the mirror, saying this isn't over and Nehelenia cannot die and will rule the universe for eternity.
Zirconia is not seen again until Eternal Sailor Moon obliterates Queen Nehelenia with Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss. This makes her mirror start to fall apart and Nehelenia is revealed to be Zirconia who refuses to accept her defeat and demands Mamoru's power as the eternally beautiful true Queen of the Moon. Her death frees Earth and Elysion from the curse of the Dead Moon.
