Xenotime and Zeolite were a pair of knife-throwing twins and members of the Dead Moon Circus. They appeared in the Dream arc of the manga and crystal to fight the Inner Sailor Guardians after the Amazon Trio died.
Nomenclature and Etymology[]
They are named after the minerals Xenotime and Zeolite.
Appearance[]
Xenotime and Zeolite are two humanoid male creatures who wear a single piece of clothing which covers their entire bodies except for their head and hands. They look exactly the same except Xenotime's clothing is a white and black checkerboard while Zeolite's clothing is a white and grey checkerboard.
They have pale skin while their hands have long nails. Their collarbones are visible. They have long blonde hair with two strands which go down the sides of their faces. They have pink ponytails which are long enough to reach their waist and have a slight curve to them. Their faces are uncanny and have a dot on their forehead like every other member of the Dead Moon Circus. They lack noses.
Information[]
When CereCere discovers Minako cannot transform the Amazoness Quartet send Xenotime and Zeolite to target her with a trap at the circus. A disguised Xenotime invites Minako to an "Idol Competition" by giving her a business card. Despite knowing it's a trap, she comes anyway to prove herself as the leader of the Inner Sailor Guardians and finds a large group of young women also competing. Zeolite explains the stardom and rewards that await the first one to climb a tower with helpless children at the top and starts the competition. The other women attack each other as they succumb to Lemures. While hidden, JunJun attacks Minako with boulders and Super Sailor Jupiter saves her with Super Sailor Mercury and Super Sailor Mars in tow. Minako tries and fails to transform again and heads to the tower on her own as Zeolite stops the other Inner Sailor Guardians from helping her by pinning them to a tree, threatening Minako's life, and attacking them with Lemures.
When Minako reaches the top of the tower, she finds the children were actually Lemures and Xenotime pins her to the ground with knives as they brainwash her into becoming a member of the Dead Moon Circus. VesVes watches beside Xenotime and gloats. She and PallaPalla attempt to stop Artemis from saving Minako but he turns into his human form for the first time and gives Minako her Venus Crystal. Xenotime and Zeolite were destroyed when Minako regained the ability to transform into a Super Sailor Senshi and used her new attack Venus Love and Beauty Shock with her new Whip of Love.
Differences in Crystal[]
- Upon their introduction they speak longer in the manga. They speak of their plan to use Lemures to fill the world with nightmares and get the Silver Crystal for Queen Nehelenia while eliminating her foes.
- In the manga, after receiving Xenotime's business card Minako shows it the other Inner Sailor Guardians to brag which is why they knew where to find her.
- Zeolite is the one who introduces and explains the idol competition in the manga while it is Xenotime in Crystal.
- Minako climbs the steel structure of the tower and dodges knives from Xenotime as she climbs in the manga. This prompts him to comment on her athleticism. In Crystal she is not in danger while climbing and there is a ladder.
- Just before Xenotime dies, it shows VesVes and PallaPalla abandoning him in Crystal while the manga only shows VesVes leaving and PallaPalla is only implied.
- Just before Zeolite dies, the manga shows Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Jupiter struggling on the ground at his feet while in Crystal they are still pinned to the same tree as earlier.
- The interlude with the Outer Sailor Guardians occurs as Artemis is attacked with a boulder in the manga making Xenotime and Zeolite survive longer and seem like a bigger threat. In Crystal, this interlude occurs after they are killed.
Powers[]
They attack by throwing knives and summoning Lemures but do not have any named attacks or abilities.
Xenotime and Zeolite showed great skill in knife-throwing. They were both able to throw dozens of daggers at once pinning their opposition. Xenotime pinned Minako down to the metal floor making her vulnerable for another attack and Zeolite pinned Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Jupiter to a tree at the same time.
Despite this skill, they did not hurt any of the Inner Sailor Guardians with knives because they wanted to brainwash them into joining the Dead Moon Circus. By the time their plan fell apart and Super Sailor Venus appeared it was too late as she was able to dodge their attacks and quickly dispatch them.
Items[]
- Knives
Trivia[]
- They were the only members of Dead Moon Circus to be omitted in the 90's anime series.
