Transformations are a big part of Sailor Moon, since the main characters use them to transform in to their Sailor Senshi forms. This is typically done by yelling out a special command while using a special item such as a pen, wand, or brooch.
Most transformations in the Sailor Moon series are made up of five steps:
- Senshi shouts the phrase and activates the transformation item.
- She turns into shining silhouette and sailor fuku stepwise/instantly appears on her body.
- When skirt or all costume appears, shine on her skin desappears and she makes some graceful moves.
- Her face gets closer, while the jewellery and makeup magically appears on her.
- Sailor Senshi moves away and stands in her final pose.
Some of this transformation steps can be excluded or changed. Especially in manga every transformation is instant.
Also the transformation includes special visual effects and moving backgrounds, compared with music and sound effects to be more beautiful and epic.
Every sailor's transformation happens in real time, because it can be seen by enemies and civilians.
Transformations can be group. It happens, while two or more guardians is transforming in one time. So, the transformations are turning into a big pretty edit, that shows every sailor's transformations.
