The "Talismans" are 3 objects that were sealed inside three very special Pure Heart Crystals. They are the Space Sword, wielded by Sailor Uranus; the Deep Aqua Mirror, wielded by Sailor Neptune; and the Garnet Orb, wielded by Sailor Pluto.

Anime

The Talismans were weapons that the Death Busters was searching for, as well as Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus. They were said to be sealed inside the Pure Heart Crystals of three individuals. Eudial eventually discovers that two of the Talismans are sealed inside the hearts of Uranus and Neptune. Uranus and Neptune remove their Pure Hearts themselves, which causes them to die and the two talismans appear from their hearts. Sailor Pluto reveals herself and reveals that she possess the last talisman. Uranus and Neptune are revived, and the three used the talismans to summon the Holy Grail, causing Sailor Moon to transform into Super Sailor Moon for the first time.

Manga and Crystal

Unlike the anime, the three Sailor Senshi were already in possession of the Talismans. Sailor Neptune's talisman was the first shown, as she carried it around with her while in civilian form. Sailor Uranus did not carry around her talisman but instead summoned it when needed in battle. Sailor Pluto kept her talisman, the Garnet Orb atop the Garnet Rod, and she was able to use it in both civilian and Sailor Senshi form. When the three talismans came together, they would awaken Sailor Saturn, who would bring destruction in her awakening. When the three Outer Sailor Guardians combine their powers using the talisman they form a barrier.

Trivia

The three Talismans are inspired by the Imperial Regalia of Japan, three legendary treasures used in the enthronement ceremony of the Japanese emperor. These items are the sword (Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi), the mirror (Yata no Kagami), and the jewel (Yasakani no Magatama). According to tradition, they were given to Ninigi-no-Mikoto, the legendary founder of the Japanese imperial line, by his grandmother, the sun goddess Amaterasu-ōmikami.
- This legend has also been used - in different forms - in other anime franchises, including Yuu Yuu Hakusho, GS Mikami, and Samurai Troopers (Ronin Warriors).
In the Cloverway dub of the 90s anime, it was known as the Crystal Treasures.
