"Shadow Galactica" is the empire built by Sailor Galaxia. Its mission is to collect Sailor Crystals. They are the main villains of the final arc of the Sailor Moon manga, 90s anime, crystal, and many Sera Myu.

Information[]

Manga[]

Sailor Galaxia had wandered without purpose until she encountered Wiseman who directed her to Sagittarius Zero Star where she met Chaos. This is when the Shadow Galactica Empire began and Galactica Palace, at the core of the Zero Star, became its base of operations.

From here, Shadow Galactica ravaged worlds across the Milky Way as they collected Sailor Crystals. These included planets Mau, Mermaid, Kinmoku, Chuu, Cocoon, and Coronis. This was done in a bid to take control of the Galaxy Cauldron: the star which governs the life and death of all others. Neither leader intended to share that power but it served them to work together until the task was complete.

Sailor Galaxia recruited many members into her empire and included other Sailor Guardians. They all wear Galactica Bracelets like Galaxia herself. Sailor Phi and Sailor Chi were fiercely loyal to Galaxia and supported her conquest. They tended to the Garden Crystals, the collected Sailor Crystals, in the Star Garden of Galactica Palace and also led the lower members of the organization. Sailor Lethe and Sailor Mnemosyne were the opposite and only joined to survive after Galaxia devastated their worlds and did not care for Shadow Galactica and only wanted peaceful lives for themselves. They watched the outer defences of Sagittarius Zero Star at the Desert River of Oblivion and Desert River of Memory.

She also recruited ambitious young women from the worlds she scoured and granted them power. She gave them a Sailor Crystal and a pair of Galactica Bracelets. They became her Sailor Animamates and, through the bracelet's influence, became fiercely loyal and obsessed with the idea of being reborn as true Sailor Guardians once Shadow Galactica controlled the Cauldron; though, the influence is not absolute.[1] They report to Sailor Phi who relays orders from Galaxia.

Shadow Galactica turned its sights onto Earth after Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion let out a burst of energy visible across the galaxy during their fight against Queen Nehelenia. Galaxia intended to use Sailor Moon to destroy Chaos while collecting everyone else's Sailor Crystals and Chaos had their own plans for her.

Anime[]

Sailor Galaxia wishes to collect every Sailor Guardians' star seed and has almost completed her conquest when she targets Earth. She initially unleashes Queen Nehelenia to target Earth's guardians and force Sailor Saturn to mature. Once she has been beaten, Shadow Galactica makes Ginga TV their headquarters. From there, the Sailor Animamates pose as normal employees and search for true star seeds. The Animamates are Sailor Guardians who have joined Galaxia and remain alive as long as they continue to wear their Galactica Bracelets. Every person they check who lacks a true star seed turns into a Phage. Galaxia already knows where those star seeds are but doesn't tell her minions. As they fail to retrieve them, Galaxia successfully kills them by taking their Galactica Bracelets away.

Musicals[]

Shadow Galactica has appeared in many musicals and has taken many unique forms. Through the many Sera Myu, many additional members of the organization have been introduced which are not in any other version (for example: Sailor Pewter Fox of the Sailor Animamates) and in some musicals they would bring back past villains such as Queen Beryl, the Shitennou, and the Amazon Trio. Generally, its origins and leadership structure typically more closely follow the 90s anime than the manga (except in Le Mouvement Final) but takes many liberties with the organization.
