Transforming into their respective Sailor Starlighti forms
Act 51 Stars 2 (manga)
In the manga, the Three Lights apparently wore the brooch on a chain under their clothing. The earpiece did not cover the entire ear, but was attached to the lobe similar to an earring, and at the end of the boom microphone closest to their mouths was another star. When they transformed, they held up the brooch as they called out their transformation phrase with the microphones already on their ears. Unlike in the anime, the microphones did not always disappear after their transformations. In both versions, after they were in their Senshi forms, the brooch appeared at the front of the Starlights' sailor fuku where the front bows would be on the Solar System Senshi's sailor fuku.
First anime series
In the first anime series, the earpiece of the microphone was shaped like a pentagon, with a five-pointed star within and a semi-transparent, light blue wing attached. It also had three gems, the colors of which corresponded to the color themes of the three Starlights - red, blue, and green (from top to bottom), representing Sailor Star Fighter, Sailor Star Maker, and Sailor Star Healer respectively. When the Starlights transformed, the earpiece of their microphone appeared on their left ear, covering its whole surface. As the transformation phrase was called into the microphone, the star on it flashed a few times before the transformation process began. During the transformation, the brooch appeared on their chests. The headset was visible only during the transformation and the Starlights' introduction sequences, after which point it disappeared.
- In episode 173, at the beginning of Three Lights' concert, Seiya, Taiki and Yaten are using headsets that looks like the Sailor Change Star on-stage, although it's debatable whether or not those are the actual transformation devices.
