"Planet... destroy..."
— Metalia's only lines

Queen Metalia (クイン メタリア, Kuin Metaria) is an evil force sealed under Planet Earth. She feeds on human energy and is mysteriously connected to the Silver Crystal. Queen Beryl uses her to wage war against the Moon Kingdom in the past and tries to awaken and control her in the present so that her Dark Kingdom can take over the world.

Appearance[]

Queen Metalia appears as purple energy contained within a crystal pillar. Her color flashes red when she recovers her strength, and the inside of her pillar is shown to be a stream of red energy. The pillar containing Queen Metalia is located in the Dark Kingdom, in an underground fortress built around her.

When she is shown possessing a monster, she augments its body, covering it in dark purple crystals.

When she possesses Mamoru's body to create Metalia Endymion, his armor blackens.

Personality[]

Queen Metalia is an incorporeal force that feeds on human energy. She is mysteriously linked to the Silver Crystal and gains strength whenever it is used. According to Queen Beryl, Metalia and the Crystal's power are the same, meaning Metalia is Earth's counterpart to the Moon's Silver Crystal. Metalia possesses a very limited consciousness, and is only able to speak the words "planet" and "destroy". Her only purpose is to destroy planet Earth, where she is sealed.

Information[]

Silver Millennium[]

At the end of the Silver Millennium, Queen Metalia is the entity that grants Beryl the power to start a revolution on Earth against the Moon Kingdom and Endymion. During the revolution, Endymion is killed, and the grief causes Princess Serenity to unleash the power of the Silver Crystal, therefore destroying both the Moon and the Earth. During this event, Metalia is sealed underground.

Dark Kingdom[]

After being reborn in the present, Queen Beryl attempts to awaken and control Queen Metalia in order to rule over the Earth. Using Metalia's power, Beryl revives the Four Kings of Heaven and brainwashes them to make them forget their previous lives, with varying degrees of success. At first, Queen Beryl tries to awaken Metalia by feeding her energy from humans on Earth, collected by the Four Kings of Heaven’s Monsters, and by finding the Silver Crystal.

Even though the Dark Kingdom fails to find the Crystal, Beryl manages to partially awaken Metalia using human energy. After Usagi awakens as Princess Serenity and the Silver Crystal reveals itself, Metalia's powers begin to grow rapidly, much to Queen Beryl's puzzlement.

Monsters[]

Sometime after the Princess and the Silver Crystal reveal themselves, Queen Beryl figures out that Queen Metalia's power is connected to the power of the Silver Crystal; whenever Usagi uses the Silver Crystal's power, Metalia's own strength increases.

As Metalia begins to awaken on her own, she starts summoning identical cloaked monsters without Queen Beryl or the Four Kings of Heaven's intervention. These monsters are weak, but they always appear in groups. Eventually, Metalia's strength increases to the point where her monsters are able to combine into single, more powerful monsters capable of draining energy from the people of Tokyo, leaving them comatose. Metalia herself later possesses one of these strong monsters, but is forced out of its body by Sailor Venus' Rolling Heart Vibration, allowing Sailor Moon to destroy it.

Metalia Endymion[]

Metalia's growing power is a cause of concern for Queen Beryl, who fears that the entity will destroy the Earth before she has the chance to take over it. Beryl attempts to drain Metalia's power through different ways, but she is unsuccessful. In the end, Mamoru decides to seal Queen Metalia within his body, believing that he can contain it, much like Usagi contains the Silver Crystal within her.

However, Metalia's power manages to corrupt Mamoru after he witnesses Kunzite's death, and turns him into the entity known as Metalia Endymion, a dark version of Prince Endymion whose only mission is to destroy the planet. Metalia Endymion defeats the Sailor Guardians in combat until Sailor Moon stabs the entity with Endymion's sword, effectively killing both Mamoru and Queen Metalia and putting an end to the Dark Kingdom.

Metalia's dead, empty pillar remains in the Dark Kingdom's base, and Queen Beryl chooses to die in its chamber as her castle collapses.
