Princess Serenity was the princess of the Moon Kingdom in the Silver Millennium and the past-incarnation of Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon). This is the second animated depiction of the original manga character.

Appearance
Like several other manga-imported anime characters, Princess Serenity retains the same appearance as she does in her original incarnation (minus her silver hair). She has long blonde hair put up in odango buns. She wears a white regal gown and has a golden crescent-moon symbol on her forehead.
Biography
Season One: Dark Kingdom
From the beginning of the series, Luna's task, along with awakening the Guardian Senshi, is searching for the Moon Princess. Mamoru also has constant dreams about a girl asking him to find the Silver Crystal. It is revealed in episode 9 that Princess Serenity's present incarnation is Usagi Tsukino.
Serenity was fascinated by the Earth, and longed for its greenery and wind. Even though she was forbidden to go to the planet, she would go there in secret, eventually meeting Prince Endymion. The two then fell in love.
During the Dark Kingdom's attack, the catalyst of the Moon Kingdom's downfall, Prince Endymion died protecting Serenity, and out of sorrow, she committed suicide. Serenity's mother, the Moon Queen, sealed away the evil forces of the Dark Kingdom, but as a result, the Moon Kingdom turned into stone, and Earth's history had to be restarted. Before her own death, the Queen used the Silver Crystal to give her daughter and others a second chance of rebirth, hoping in particular that, this time, Serenity and Endymion could find happiness together. As a result, Serenity's spirit was reborn and reincarnated in 21st century Earth as Usagi Tsukino.
Season Two: Black Moon
Her thirty-century future self is revealed to be Neo Queen Serenity; the ruler of the future Moon Kingdom, Crystal Tokyo, wife/queen of King Endymion, and dear mother of Chibiusa.
Season Three: Death Busters
After Sailor Pluto destroyed Tellu, Sailor Moon transformed into Princess Serenity. The Outers formally introduced themselves, and asked them why the Inner and Outer Senshi could not work together. The Outers apologized to Serenity for failing in their mission in preventing the Death Busters from infiltrating the Solar System and attacking Earth. They told them that it is their problem, and the other Senshi and Serenity will get in the way and get hurt. They also told her their ultimate mission is to destroy the Deity of Destruction .
Trivia
- Even though the Crystal is far much more like the manga, Princess Serenity has yellow-blonde hair; like her original anime counterpart. However, her hair is noticeably a paler yellow-blonde than Usagi's, as opposed to the original anime, where Serenity had the exact same yellowish-blonde hair as Usagi.
