Prince Demande is the leader of the Black Moon Clan and oversaw an attack on Crystal Tokyo in the 30th Century.

Nomenclature & Etymology[]

Etymology[]

In the musicals, namely Ai no Sanctuary, Demand uses an alias "Hikaru Kurotsuki". Hikaru means "light" and Kurotsuki means "black moon".

Appearance[]

He has the same appearance as his Manga and anime counterparts. So he has silver hair and hazel eyes with the Black Moon mark on his forehead. He wears a white jacket and with a white crystal near the collar of his jacket. With white pants to go along with his jacket and a purple cape attached to his jacket.

Information[]

Prince Demand appeared in the musicals based on the Sailor Moon R season, such as Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon ~ The Birth! The Princess of Darkness, Black Lady, and was quite similar to the manga. He was the only member of the Black Moon Clan who was not killed off by Death Phantom. He instead gave up his attempt to take over Crystal Tokyo and returned to Nemesis both to recover from his injuries and in order to make it a beautiful place covered with flowers.

In the musical Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon ~Sanctuary of Love, the commentator at the wrestling match was a white-haired man named "Hikaru Kurotsuki" (the light of the black moon), who obviously knew about Dark Nibiru's plans and the identities of the Sailor Guardians. He later revealed his identity to be Prince Demande and helped the Sailor Guardians defeat their enemies.

Powers[]

No special powers in particular although he was able to use the Black Crystal to attack Crystal Tokyo. He was also able to control what Sailor Moon by making her sit, stand, etc. in the scene when he captured her.

Development[]

Because of the Black Moon Clan's beliefs that the Legendary Silver Crystal is a corruptive force, Wiseman sought Demand out and convinced him to use the Malefic Black Crystal's power against Crystal Tokyo. Demand and his allies initially plan to use the Black Crystal's time manipulative powers to travel back in time to the 20th century as part of "Operation: Replay", intending kill the past versions of the "White Moon" members who established Crystal Tokyo: The Sailor Guardians and Mamoru. But Demand, wanting to see the Legendary Silver Crystal's power for himself, launched an attack that wiped out most of Crystal Tokyo in a display of power. It resulted with Demand encountering Neo-Queen Serenity as she rushed out of the Crystal Palace in search of her daughter, Chibiusa. This led to Demand becoming obsessed with Neo-Queen Serenity, which extended to her past self Usagi Tsukino as he abducted her during her visit to the 30th century. Demand intends to force Usagi to submit to him, but she eventually manages to escape. Later Demand found out from his brother that he was killed and is a droid and his brother Saphir is plotting against him.

Trivia[]

  • The names of the members of the Black Moon Clan were all references to precious gemstones, each name matching the gems that character wore. According to the Materials Collection Prince Demande's gem was the diamond, but the language Naoko Takeuchi drew his name from is uncertain, and the proper romanization of his name has been debated amongst fans for years.
  • In episode 80, Esmeraude mentioned that Demande's favorite flower was jasmine
