Not to be confused for the Sera Myu actress Marina Kuroki.

Mio Kuroki is a character who appears only in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. She appears as an idol who gains over-night popularity and becomes the rival to Minako Aino when the truth was that she was actually the "shadow" of Queen Beryl sent to Earth to spy on the Sailor Senshi.

Nomenclature & Etymology

"Kuroki" (黒木) in her family name means "black wood," which could be the reason why she took the form of a monstrous plant in the Special Act.

Mio has long dark brown hair in bangs and dark eyes.

Mio appears to be a caring person on the outside. However, on the inside, she is selfish, conniving and manipulative. It was those later traits that exposed her to Minako, Naru and later Rei.

Mio was created sometime between Act 25 and 28 by Queen Beryl and Jadeite. She was quickly suspected by Minako who knew she was an agent for the Dark Kingdom and was sent to harm Usagi. Naru noticed this suspicion from her as well. She and Minako warned Usagi to stay away from Mio.

Her cruelty eventually exposes her to Rei who told her off that she knew about how much she's harmed Usagi and Mamoru because Minako told her everything. She points out that she will tell her friend the truth about Mio's cruelty unless she allows them a day together. Mio allows it as long as she convinces Mamoru that he needs to say with Beryl to prevent a pivotal moment involving Princess Serenity using the crystal again.

Mio is later confronted by Metalia Endymion and she realizes too late her cruelty has indeed come back to haunt her. She screamed out for Usagi to help her, but he seemingly kills her right away.

Special Act

Mio returns in the Special Act to injure Rei, mainly because she confronted her. After kidnapping Usagi and Mamoru, she does what she can to convince him to be with her and kill Usagi. She is foiled when the Shittenou convinces him not to because Usagi is his soulmate. Minako, Makoto, and Ami show up repowered to finish the job.

Now foiled, Mio becomes a plant monster to kill off the Sailor Senshi. The Sailor Senshi uses the Sailor Power attack to destroy Mio for good.

Mio has mind control powers as well as the ability to injure people telepathically. She had these powers before the Special Act. Later when she returned in the Special Act, she had gained the ability to summon her own Youma on her own. She also created herself a new costume in the Act.

  • Mio's surname is made up of the same characters as that of Marina Kuroki, who played the fourth Sailor Moon in the Bandai musicals
