Nomenclature & Etymology

In Japanese, "Mikan" means tangerine (蜜柑 in kanji). Her family name means "white bird".

Mikan appears as a young teenage girl with brown hair that reaches to her back, and green eyes.

The outfit she wore in the anime consisted of an orange dress that reached to her knees with a large green ribbon wrapped around her waist that tied into a bow in the back. She also wore orange shoes with straps, a red choker and a large red bow in her hair.

In the 1st season, Mikan was targeted by Jadeite as a plan to gather energy for the Dark Kingdom. While she was taking a shower in her apartment, she was attacked by the youma, Derella, who then took on her likeness. It then assists Jadeite in the Cinderella Caravan, a talent show for people to become a celebrity. Derella sends out a beam and hypnotizes everyone nearby into taking part. At the auditions, she passes everyone.

Later, the fake Mikan begins to drain energy from the people performing at the real event. Sailor Moon appears and Derella reveals her true self. After a brief battle, the youma is destroyed, and everyone, including the real Mikan, wakes up.

Sailor Moon R

Later on, Mikan only appeared for a very brief moment in episode 48, where An breaks into her dressing room and steals her energy, Mikan having been set to star in a drama series. The series was abandoned after the incident.

  • She is known as "Saffron Henderson" in the DiC English dub. In the children's novels, Melvin describes her as the "next Jennifer Lopez".
  • Her DiC English dub voice actress, Stephanie Morgenstern, would voice Mina later on.
