So I was wondering if maybe I could become an admin? I haven't been on the site for long, but I've done a lot so far and want to continue to make the site better. Also I won't have to bug StarsandPeacesigns for help with deleting something like a photo that's been entered twice, or creating templates, cateogries etc. If not that's cool, just thought I'd ask.
I think that you have to wait untill next month to get a reply. She just announced that she is currently busy with personal things and will be returning to the world of Sailor Moon in October. If I was a bureaucrat, then I would make you into an admin.
Also, I actually don't mind being bugged. I like helping out with stuff. :)
I have noticed that this wiki doesn't have any rollbacks and I think that it would be a good idea to have at least one. BTW, a Rollback is a user right that allows a user to quickly undo all consecutive edits to a page by the last editor. It also hides the revision from WikiActivity. Also, every wiki needs a rollback too. Just to let you know.
Excuse me again but can you block this contributor? He has been making edits that add in info on the Daigunder series(what is that? An anime?) in which the info has nothing to do with Sailor Moon at all. He has also done this more than once and I have warned him twice about it but he still kept making edits. Can you please block him?
Hi Zoi1! I was checking in the other day, and felt super bad about how I just abandoned the wiki. I was overwhelmed with all the pages I guess since I had never managed such a big wiki. Since then I've learned more about structuring a wiki, so I'm doing a little clean up. I hope that's okay! I don't want to mess up anything you've done. I'll be making a blog post about how I structured the categories.
I know we always needed a naming a policy so everyone can be on the same page, and I wanted to suggest we use this websites guide. They list like every character, and overall I agree with the spellings they chose. Would that be okay with you?
(I'm also going to work on a more ~Sailor Moon theme. The last theme just didn't feel like Sailor Moon, and I hope to make a proper main page. :D)
Don't feel bad, 'cause I did pretty much the same with this wiki :) I was working a lot on the German SMW lately.
The website seems to be very reliable, also I like how the use the Hepburn-romanization (Setsuna Meiō instead of Setsuna Meioh or Meiou).
As you know my English is not that great, so I will not be creating or re-writing any of the articles on this wiki. But still, I can help with categories (we really need a guideline for that cause the categories are so messy atm), interwiki-links, and infoboxes.
Oh, and what do you think about a, I don't know how to say this..., like a guideline of how to write an article, especially from what point of view. I think articles should be written as if the whole Sailor Moon world was real. Let me show you an example on the German wiki: http://de.sailor-moon.wikia.com/wiki/New_Tokyo_International_Airport
Instead of "Ami decides to leave Tokyo from this airport on episode bla bla..." we wrote something like "NTIA is an airport in Tokyo. Ami goes there..." And then there's a foot note that refers to the articles references ("Einzelnachweise" in German). Many big wikis do so, for instance Memory Alpha, the Star Trek Wiki. See http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Memory_Alpha:Point_of_view
It's good that you worked on your wiki! Okay, maybe today I can start renaming some of the articles, and I'll write up a name guide for the wiki using that website as a source.
I think your English is fantastic; don't worry! :D I made this blog post outlining the category structure I'm working on. I'm going to look through your wikis categories as well to compare and see what would work better.
Ah yess I see what you mean. I've never really done that on any wikis, but I can see how it'd be better. I've usually done in-universe to an extent, but ended up referencing episode titles within the summary for a character. For example I would say, "In "Girl Power! The End of Jadeite" Jadeite is sentenced to eternal sleep by Queen Beryl." How would that work now?
Also, would all the articles use this? I can see how it works great with articles of locations or objects, but would episode articles still be able to say "...is the second episode of season one of Sailor Moon"? Sorry for all the questions I just want to make sure I understand, haha. I'll also be reading that guide from Memory Alpha, thanks!
You're right. Of course not all articles would use this. Concerning episodes Memory Alpha says: Articles concerning Star Trek episodes and films are a special case. Although they are covered by the production point of view, summary sections are written from an in-universe point of view and may be written in either present or past tense. Other sections, including the sidebar and background information sections, should be written in a standard production point of view.
(I'm not saying that this wiki should do it just like Memory Alpha ;) It's just an idea that crossed my mind)
Btw, I love your new motivation. It's great that YOU adopted this Wiki a long time ago and not just somebody else :)
Hi :) You're right, there's plenty to do. If you like, you cold help us with one of the following points:
1. This Wiki follows a certain naming policy. We use Japanese terms and names only (English names are added to the infoboxes)
2. All characters need character infoboxes. Monster of the days need MOTD-infoboxes.
3. This is an online encyclopedia, so pictures must not be used too extensively. There are many articles with WAY too many pics
