Mamoru Chiba (地場衛, Chiba Mamoru) is the present-day incarnation of Prince Endymion (プリンス エンディミオン, Purinsu Endimion) and the civilian identity of Tuxedo Mask (タキシード仮面, Takishīdo Kamen) in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.
Appearance[]
He retains his same appearance as his manga and anime counterparts. However, he has black-brown hair which is longer than in other versions.
Information[]
In Act 0, Mamoru is already aware he is Tuxedo Mask. He finds out Sailor V's secret identity accidentally after spying on Cutie Kenko and bumps into Usagi frequently throughout the main series. However, unlike other versions, he discovers her secret identity long before she knows he is Tuxedo Mask. The other Sailor Guardians are also highly critical and distrusting of him (as he has retained the manga element of being a jewel thief) and believing he will hurt Usagi, despite saving them.
Eventually, Usagi learns that he is engaged to Hina as a result of a childhood promise to her. However, despite his desire to be with Hina, she realizes that he does not truly love her and lets him go; he leaves for London to discover who he truly is. However, in part, he seems to be truly trying to resist his past as Prince Endymion, not wanting to associate with the Shitenno.
Powers[]
Tuxedo Mask doesn’t have any special powers in this incarnation, and his cane is his only weapon. However, Tuxedo Mask appears to gain the ability to transform into Prince Endymion at will once his memories return. Endymion wears armor and carries a sword, and is a more powerful form.
During one of the mini-dramas released along with Act Zero, Mamoru is seen transforming with the phrase, "Tuxedo Power." Given the spoof nature of the short, this not meant to be an actual transformation nor transformation phrase. He is seen de-transforming instantaneously in the Special Act, but in Act 7, Motoki returns a repaired tuxedo to Mamoru, leaving the nature of his transformation ambiguous.
