Kenji's overall appearance is that of an average Japanese salaryman. His attire usually consists of a business suit, but he sometimes wears business casual. He also wears large, square-framed glasses.
Personality[]
He seems to be a hard worker who wants his children to get along and cares about keeping them and his wife happy. He is also very overprotective and freaks out at the thought of Usagi having a boyfriend, to the point he gets road rage.
He is also brave, willing to defend his children on at least two separate occasions. Despite his temper, he will do anything to protect his children and wants them to succeed.

Sailor Moon[]
Kenji made his first appearance in episode 2, where he was sent to go shopping for Ikuko. When he meets Usagi coming home from school, he asks about Luna when he sees she is following them home, to which Usagi replies that the cat is her friend.
At the beginning of episode 3, he is seen reading the newspaper about the "mysterious sleeping illness".
In episode 9, he falls under the effects of Jadeite's cursed clocks and is shown running out the door, late for work, when Ami is talking to Ikuko.
In episode 22, Kenji attends the embassy reception for the Kingdom of D for his work. While at the reception, he sees Usagi in disguise (unaware it is her), and hopes that his daughter will grow up to be as pretty as she is. He later takes photos of a possessed Princess D, but loses them during her attack. However, later in the episode he takes more photos of Princess D's secret treasure, a several-karat diamond.
He next appears in episode 45, where Usagi makes curry for her father, mother, and older brother, but comes out with terrible results.
His last appearance in the first season is in episode 46; here, he can be seen worriedly watching Tokyo out a window as power goes down across the city briefly.
Sailor Moon R[]
Kenji's first appearance in the second season is in episode 50, where he and Shingo attend the new virtual theater. He protected Usagi and Shingo, though got injured and was taken care of by his wife.
His final appearance in the second season, as well as in the entire 90s anime series, is in episode 66, where Chibiusa becomes upset that Ikuko and Kenji will not be able to attend her class's party where they will be making curry.

- In Romance Under the Moon: Usagi's First Kiss, he sees Usagi at the ball he is covering for his magazine job, but does not recognize her due to the Disguise Pen's effects.
- He appears to dislike Mamoru, although this is likely due to him being overprotective of Usagi dating at a young age, as even Ikuko approves of Mamoru fairly early.
