Kaolinite is the caretaker of the Tomoe household, Professor Tomoe's secretary, as well as the first of the Death Busters to look for Pure Hearts.

Etymology[]
Kaolinite is named after a mineral of the same name.
The kanji in her alias' surname translates to "black" (黒) and "peak" or "ridge" (峰). Her given name, Kaori, comes from the Romanized form of "Kaolinite". It also means "fragrance" or "aroma".
Appearance[]
Kaolinite has long red hair, grey eyes, and very pale skin. She is often seen wearing a red v-neck dress. Also, she would sometimes wear a lab coat. Her eyes appear to be completely purple, with yellow waves representing her pupils.
After her rejoining the Death Busters, she took on a new form and wore a black dress with a flared collar, a black pendant, and grey tights with black shoes.

She sent Professor Tomoe's Daimon Eggs to extract Pure Hearts, seeking out those she thought could possess Pure Heart Crystals, although these plans were thwarted by the Sailor Senshi. Finally, she used a powerful Daimon, Cenicienta, to extract Usagi's Pure Heart, and although it seemed to be a talisman, it was returned to her by Tuxedo Mask. After Cenicienta froze Tuxedo Mask in glass, Kaolinite told Usagi, whom she discovered was Sailor Moon, to meet her at Tokyo Tower. At Tokyo Tower, Cenicienta extracted Usagi's Pure Heart, but Sailor Uranus said it wasn't a talisman and returned it to her.
Sailor Venus disguised herself as Sailor Moon to convince Kaolinite that Usagi was not Sailor Moon. Kaolinite fought Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune while the other Sailor Guardians fought Cenicienta. After Sailor Moon destroyed Cenicienta, they inevitably fought Kaolinite, who used a culture growth hormone she created to absorb Cenicienta's power, using a crystal sword and a beam of crystal shards that encase anything in glass to fight the Sailor Senshi. She was even able to survive Sailor Planet Attack with minor injuries. Just as she was about to finish them, Sailor Uranus ultimately decided to help them and used World Shaking on her, hitting her directly and turning her crystal beam against her, encasing her in crystal. The attack also caused parts of the tower to collapse and send Kaolinite falling over the edge to her death. This allows Sailor Moon the chance to escape the tower and make it back to the ground level alive.
She was later revived by Professor Tomoe (though this is not explained until near the end) and became Hotaru's guardian. She did not seem to want to rejoin the Death Busters (having feelings for the professor), but eventually rejoined. After a while, she decided to extract the purest heart she could find and chose Chibiusa. She took Chibiusa over to their lab, where Hotaru extracted her Pure Heart and awakened as Mistress 9. However, despite Kaolinite's joy for the professor's happiness, Mistress 9 struck Kaolinite with lightning, which also knocked her into the deadly electric force-field. Her body vanished after death, and Mistress 9 stated that she had served her purpose.
Powers[]
Kaolinite was a powerful sorceress and a capable combatant. She was capable of lengthening and manipulating her red hair to entangle, choke or tie up her opponents. She also demonstrated the ability to generate powerful energy blasts, teleportation, and levitation.
She was also shown able to summon a massive crystal, which she used to threaten to impale Sailor Neptune in To Save Our Friends: Moon and Uranus Join Forces.
When she absorbed Cenicienta's powers, she showed several improvements to her existing powers. By this point, she was able to create a glass sword, fire glass shards as a beam that would freeze anyone in glass, and had incredible durability, even surviving Sailor Planet Attack and apparently just being slightly stunned by it.

- The outfit Kaolinite wears when she searches for the talismans is the same one she wears in the manga when she is disguised as Kaori. She never wears it again after being revived, switching to a more Gothic attire, which was her signature outfit in the manga.
- She is the only enemy to be revived after dying.
- After her return to life, Kaolinite appeared to have developed romantic feelings for Professor Tomoe. However, it is unknown if she had these in her first life.
- She, Eudial, and Ptilol seem to have similar appearances with the thematic color of red.
- She and Eudial are the only members of the Death Busters to have successfully performed the task they were given. Eudial being able to find the bearers of the Talismans and extracting them, while Kaolinite obtains Chibiusa's pure heart to wake Mistress 9.
