Hina Kusaka is Mamoru's ex-fiancée in "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon". She is also a children's tutor as shown in one episode. Her father is also a benefactor who gave Mamoru an opportunity to work at his company.
Nomenclature and Etymology[]
Both of the Japanese kanji characters of "Hi" (陽) in her first name and "Kusa" (日) in her family name mean "sun." In contrast to this, Usagi's family name includes "Tsuki" (月), which means "moon," and "Chi" (地) in Mamoru's family name means "Earth."

Hina is a woman of average height and appearance with long straight black hair.
Information[]
Hina was introduced in the second part PGSM prequel Act 0, The Birth of Sailor V. At that time, Hina was an actress working with Mamoru Chiba on the set of Tuxedo Knight. In fact, in part one of Act Zero, she is seen attempting to contact Mamoru by phone. In a voiceover during part 2, she states that she did not think too much about auditioning for the female lead. The voiceover also reveals that she has feelings for someone and has not been able to tell him yet. Though she does not reveal the person by name, she is shown looking toward Mamoru.
Following this, she is not seen again until her appearance in Act 16 - I've Got to Save Miss Osaka!. Her presence devastates Usagi, who was in love with Mamoru. Hina seems unaware of Usagi's feelings for Mamoru initially and befriends her.
Hina eventually began to worry that Mamoru didn't truly love her and only stayed with her out of of his childhood promise to marry her despite their plans to study abroad in London together.
Eventually, Usagi begins feeling hopeless as she realizes how kind and generous a person Hina is, and how happy he seems with her. After a Youma attack, Hina realized that Mamoru was truly in love with Usagi and calls off their engagement. She tore up her own plane ticket after realizing she was only an "important person" to Mamoru (not who he truly loved.)
Mamoru tried to stop her by calling out that she's very important to him; however, Hina simply waved saying she knew that and walked off, hiding her sadness. She wasn't seen again. (Excluding Act Zero)

- As shown in Act 0, after breaking up with Mamoru, Hina apparently got a part in a film where she was attacked by a Youma and saved by someone called "Tuxedo Knight."
- Aside from Usagi, Hina is the woman Mamoru was willing to marry that was not a villain or who attempted to brainwash/kidnap him.
- Additionally, Hina is one of the only characters to have an official relationship over Mamoru over the course of several episodes, the other being Rei Hino in the anime. Coincidentally, both characters broke up with him (though Rei's was moreso implied to have happened). Both also broke up with him due to factors relating to him being Tuxedo Mask.
