Helios is the guardian of the Golden Crystal and the high-priest of Elysion. This is the original depiction of the character created by Naoko Takeuchi.

Profile

Helios is the priest of Elysion who lived back during the time of the Silver Millenium, where Prince Endymion ruled the Golden Kingdom of Earth. He was the guardian of the Golden Crystal, and a friend to Endymion, and his guardian priest. His life was bent on protecting the Golden Crystal from Nehellenia, as well as the dreams of people.

His life, as well as Mamoru's/Endymion's, the earth's, and Elysion's, are all connected and are set to resonate with each other.

Dream arc

When Queen Nehellenia was freed, she attacked Elysion and captured Helios, cursing him into the form of a Pegasus. He was able to make contact with Chibiusa and helped Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon to transform into the Super forms without the Holy Grails, which had vanished since the Outer Senshi were not currently present in the battle. He transformed their kaleidoscopes into the Moon Kaleido Scopes, allowing them to fight the Dead Moon Circus.

Trivia

  • Helios is the personification of the Sun in Greek mythology. He is sometimes identified as the sun god, however, that role is also associated with Apollo, depending on the sources. Other sources claim that they are one and the same.
  • Takeuchi states in her character notes for Helios that "his age is about that of a seventh grade boy". Going by the Japanese school system (since Takeuchi is Japanese) this would imply Helios is between/around 12-13 years old physically; or, close in age to Chibiusa by SuperS.
  • It is also implied he may be somewhat immortal, or ages slowly, due to him originating from the past and at the same time, currently existing in the present day. As he encounters a vision of an older princess-like Chibiusa (called "Princess Lady Serenity"), who appears to be from the future and knows of him; he may be involved in the future as well.
  • It should be noted in regards to his "age" that Helios does not talk (use the same speech pattern as) the way a middle-aged Japanese man would (for example, using "washi" as a pronoun). This would typically place him, to a Japanese viewing audience and with this context, firmly pre-middle aged regardless. Despite this, his overall age remains "Unknown", and was only officially stated in Takeuchi's concept art notes.
