Gurio Umino is a smart, stereotypical nerd and a classmate of Usagi Tsukino and Naru Osaka.

Umino's appearance is the same from the first anime and manga.
Background
Umino met with his friends Usagi and Naru after Usagi failed her exam. He got a ninety-five percent, saying he treats tests like a game. He also informed Usagi's mother about the test, leading her to discover Usagi failed her exam. He is quite smart, although he can be socially awkward, a bit of a know it all. He likes to tell his friends and classmates about the latest information such as Sailor V, the strange crimes and rumors in Tokyo, and on students such as Ami Mizuno and Makoto Kino

- In episode 7, when Umino's face was in shadow, it strongly resembled Professor Tomoe's shaded face in the original anime. However, on the blu-ray/dvd release, the shot was changed, so his face was no longer shaded so drastically.
