"Act 35 Infinity 9  "Infinite Labyrinth" 2" is the 10th episode of the 3rd season of Sailor Moon Crystal and 36th episode overall. It aired in Japan on June 6, 2016, and in North America on October 27, 2017.

Summary[]

With the 8 Sailor Guardians working together, Mistress 9 is more determined to bring her master to Earth by utilizing the Silver Crystal she now possesses. However, Hotaru's consciousness lives on and will not let her do as she pleases. With time running out, Super Sailor Moon is ready to do whatever it takes to save Chibiusa and Hotaru.

Plot[]

After Mistress 9 consumes the Silver Crystal, Pharaoh 90 crushes the Taioron Crystal, which is nowhere near as powerful. Hotaru prevents Mistress 9 from releasing more Silver Crystal power for Pharaoh 90, giving her a headache. Mistress 9 is confident that after Pharaoh 90 completes his vesselization she can destroy Hotaru's body and assume her true form. Inside Mistress 9, Chibiusa's soul finds the Silver Crystal, and Hotaru protects her, preventing Mistress 9 from accessing the Silver Crystal's power.

The Sailor Guardians decide to go to the basement of Mugen Academy. They split up; Sailor Venus, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Jupiter take the stairs and check each floor as they go, while Sailor Moon, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Pluto take the elevator.

Professor Tomoe says the elevator will lead them to their doom. He speaks of Daimons being superior to humans, and gene manipulation. He remembers how, when he was making modifications to Hotaru to save her life after the fire, Pharaoh 90 planted a Daimon egg inside Kaolinite, who was Tomoe's assistant even now - not possessing her with a Daimon, but granting her power, and he promised her greater power and the title of magus if she swore loyalty to him. Kaolinite agreed to this, and he told her to collect souls and implant Daimon eggs in similar vessels. Tomoe eventually was given the opportunity to eat a Daimon egg, making him a Death Buster. When Pharaoh 90 gave him Mistress 9's egg, he planted it inside Hotaru to make her Mistress 9's vessel, and later created the Witches 5. After that came the Daimon eggs that possessed people, but he intends to create more alien/human hybrids that are a super life form, and thinks of himself as God.

The elevator plunges Super Sailor Moon and the Outer Guardians into darkness, but Super Sailor Moon counters with Rainbow Moon Heart Ache, and they reappear in the elevator. The door opens, and Tomoe sets his Daimons on them. Sailor Pluto and Sailor Neptune kill them, and Tomoe says Hotaru, referring to her as his former daughter, is at the sacred temple offering the Silver Crystal to Pharaoh 90. Sailor Neptune realizes it's below them. Tomoe transforms into a Daimon and attacks. Sailor Moon doesn't want to kill Hotaru's father, but Sailor Uranus says he can't turn back into a human and is an enemy. When Tomoe tries to kill Sailor Uranus, Super Sailor Moon destroys him with Rainbow Moon Heart Ache. Hotaru senses this.

As Mugen Academy begins to collapse, Sailor Pluto gets outside with the others, but the other four Inner Guardians are still inside. A burst of dark energy sends Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus flying, causing Super Sailor Moon to revert to her original Sailor Moon form. Pharaoh 90 and Mistress 9 emerge.

Changes[]

Changes from the Manga[]

  • Professor Tomoe's flashback shows Kaori being struck by lightning, not implanted with a Daimon egg.
  • The flashback does not show Tomoe eating a Daimon egg or Pharaoh 90 giving Tomoe the Daimon egg of Mistress 9 to plant in Hotaru.
  • Hotaru makes a statement that her father died after the explosion that killed her mother and the man who existed after was no longer the father she knew and loved.
  • Tomoe undresses before turning into Germatoid.
  • After transforming, Tomoe calls himself Germatoid by name.
  • Sailor Moon is not as hesitant in destroying Tomoe as she is in Crystal.

Changes from the 90s Anime[]

  • Garnet Ball was never used by Sailor Pluto.
  • Hotaru was never a crucial part of her father's experiments, but remained the vessel for Mistress 9.
  • Hotaru was not seen protecting Chibiusa's pure heart crystal within Mistress 9. Her consciousness existed only as a glimmer of yellow light, capable of regaining gradual control at times.
  • Mistress 9 did not attempt to tear "her body" apart in order to dominate the Earth.
  • Professor Tomoe did not die.
  • Germatoid and Professor Tomoe were entirely separate entities.
  • Only Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune battled Germatoid directly.
  • Germatoid had evacuated Professor Tomoe's body and taken over several monster puppets until he was destroyed by Sailor Uranus when she plunged the Space Sword right into his heart.
  • Germatoid had the form of a giant plant-like beast, before possessing the puppets.
  • It was never known where Kaolinite had come from, a lab assistant to Professor Tomoe before the Death Busters' arrival.
  • Eudial, Mimete, Tellu, Viluy, Cyprine, and Ptilol were never artificially created in the laboratory; where they had come from was never revealed.
  • Mistress 9 was not a white Daimon egg, but had sought refuge within 8-year-old Hotaru after the accident 4 years earlier. She gradually took control of Hotaru until she emerged after eating Chibiusa's pure heart crystal.
