Ryo Urawa is a minor character in the 1st season of the anime series.

Appearance[]

Ryo has dark brown hair and has dark brown eyes with somewhat thick eyebrows. He wears a white buttoned shirt and blue jeans, and is somewhat short.

Information[]

Ryo was originally Bunbo, one of the Seven Great Youma that served the Dark Kingdom; however Queen Serenity sealed away his Youma form along with the six, reincarnating him and the rest of them as normal humans on Earth during the series.

As a human, he became Ryo Urawa, who had psychic powers and was gifted with precognitive skills which allowed him to score highly on tests.

He briefly attended Juban Pubic Middle School in Crushing on Ami: The Boy Who Can See the Future. He had a crush on Ami due to her high intelligence. His powers foretold him about his past life, as well as know Ami's identity as Sailor Mercury. He thus asked Ami to kill him so that he would not harm her, but Ami refused; Ami inspired Ryo to not leave his human life behind, and Sailor Moon was able to heal him.

Following this, he transferred to another school but later reappeared to warn Ami of a plan by Queen Beryl to revive the Seven Great Youma in episode 41. He was targeted by Endymion, but managed to escape; later, he was captured protecting Ami, though shortly after, she broke the Black Crystal, freeing him. He is later seen on a date with Ami at an amusement park before he leaves again.

Ryo himself doesn't appear again, but in the second to last episode of the first season, one of the DD girls used her illusions to impersonate him.

Trivia[]

  • Due to his role in the plot, he is arguably the only "victim of the day" character to star in multiple episodes and was heavily teased as a romantic interest for Ami in promo materials. Despite this, he is never seen again after the first season and an actual relationship was never established.
  • He is the only known student to surpass Ami on exams, though it's due to psychic powers and not actual studying.
  • He makes a brief reappearance in Sailor Moon: Another Story, where the Senshi saves him from a Youma attack in the train he is riding in and he informs Ami and the others about the sudden changes in destiny.
  • He is the only one of the reincarnated Seven Great Youma who was aware of his past life beforehand.
