Sailor Lethe of the Lethe star is a Sailor Senshi who joined Shadow Galactica, along with her sister-senshi Sailor Mnemosyne, after their homes' demise at the hands of Sailor Galaxia. She watches over the Desert River of Oblivion at Sagittarius Zero Star and only appears in the manga and crystal.
Etymology[]
Lethe is one of the 5 Rivers of Hades in Greek Mythology and together form the outer most perimeter of the underworld. Travelers would typically travel deeper inside with the help of the ferryman Charon. The souls of the dead would drink from the river so they do not remember their previous lives when they are reincarnated.
Appearance[]
Sailor Lethe has purple eyes, pale skin, pink hair and lips, and green clothing. Her hair is long and is parted to the left as her right bang curls downward. Her hair falls to the sides in four long spiral rolls, two to the left and two to the right, which are each tied into loose buns. On her forehead, she has a non-standard tiara where a purple stone with a small ornament is held by three white beaded chains which wrap around to the back of her head. At her left ear, she wears a curved earring with many pieces protruding from it.
On her neck she wears a green choker. At it's middle is a white pointed star and from it hangs a different ornament which features another purple stone. Her outfit is a summer dress with a pleated skirt, straps, and a distinctive sailor collar. On her feet are green Grecian sandals composed of many thin straps. She wears Galactica Bracelets.
Personality[]
Sailor Lethe is highly protective of her twin-sister Sailor Mnemosyne. She seeks a safe and peaceful future for them both and will do anything necessary to obtain it. She sees her service to Sailor Galaxia as a means to protect her sister and obtain that future and is not concerned with anyone else. She is not close to anyone but her sister and sees others as a potential source of pain. She does not care for the victor of the battle between Shadow Galactica and the Silver Millennium and only wants the fighting to end.

Sailor Lethe and her sister Sailor Mnemosyne are the Sailor Senshi of the binary stars Lethe and Mnemosyne unlike the Sailor Animamates who were not true Senshi. The worlds they oversaw were chaotic and wartorn until the day Sailor Galaxia came bringing death. With no other options to protect her sister, Sailor Lethe swore to serve Galaxia as part of her Shadow Galactica empire where she watches over the Desert River of Oblivion at Sagittarius Zero Star hoping for the day when they would have peace.
When Sailor Moon, Sailor Chibi Chibi, Princess Kakyuu and the Sailor Starlights arrived at Sagittarius Zero Star and passed through the Gates of the Zero Star, they found an arid desert. A cloaked "Lethe" appears before them in a boat and offers to ferry the newcomers across but it was a trap. During the trip, Lethe turned the sand into water and her victims fell in. Her desert river has the power take the memories from anyone who drinks from it.
After falling into the river, Usagi awakens at the bottom and Sailor Lethe tests her memory. Finding the river did its job, she tells Usagi her human memories were worthless and kills Luna, Artemis, and Diana in front of her. She continues to mock the amnesiac Usagi and attacks her with Galactica Myosotis Alpestris. As she is about to finish Usagi with her Galactica Bracelets, Sailor Mnemosyne surprises, embraces, and begs her to stop. She doesn't want to see her sister hurt them anymore and helps Kakyuu recover her memory as Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Chibi recover theirs on their own. She wants Lethe to let them pass to face Galaxia.
Sailor Lethe argues with her sister and wants to fulfill her obligation to Galaxia to obtain the peace they seek. She sees Usagi's Silver Crystal as a source of war and sees peace whether she or Galaxia wins and only wants the battle to end. To this, Usagi offers her life if it will end the war. Mnemosyne tells Usagi to pass and Lethe reluctantly agrees saying her death at that moment won't end the fight.
Immediately afterwards, Sailor Phi and Sailor Chi appear on the Desert River, call the twins useless, and attack the sisters who embrace as they disintegrate. Chi and Phi take the Sailor Crystals of the dead sisters and those of Sailor Star Fighter, Sailor Star Maker, and Sailor Star Healer who were still incapacitated from Lethe's river.
Differences in Crystal[]
- Sailor Lethe brandishes a spear in the river while in the manga she uses the oar she was paddling the boat with as a weapon.
- Crystal visually shows a little more of her and Sailor Mnemosyne on their homeworld as Sailor Galaxia arrives.

- Usagi had left the cats with Ikuko on Earth. Sailor Lethe finding them isn't shown. She had plenty of time to do this; however, as Usagi and her friends had taken detours to Miranda Castle, Triton Castle, Charon Castle, and to the outskirts of the Milky Way Galaxy before heading to Sagittarius Zero Star.
- Eternal Sailor Chibi Moon's story of searching for Usagi on Earth before being teleported to the Zero Star in act 57 shows Sailor Lethe left Tokyo intact.
