Manga
In the manga, Tin Nyanko says they are creatures from the planet Mau. This is never mentioned in the anime. Also never mentioned in the anime is that Diana, along with her parents, Artemis and Luna, can take human form due to Sailor Moon's power. In her human form, Diana's hair and most of her body looks similar to Chibi Chibi's (small and timid).
Development
Etimology
Diana's name is based after her father's name, Artemis. Artemis is named after the Goddess of the Hunt and the Moon, and the roman form for Artemis is the name "Diana".
