CereCere is a member of the Amazoness Quartet who work for Zirconia and Queen Nehellenia. This is the original depiction of the character created by Naoko Takeuchi.
Nomenclature & Etymology
Etymology
Her name, and her Senshi name (Sailor Ceres), is derived from one of the four major asteroids in the Asteroid Belt, keeping to the theme of our Solar System. Ceres, once considered an asteroid, has now been classified as a dwarf planet.
The name Ceres can have its roots in multiple Latin words, such as crescere (to grow), creare (to create/to give birth), cernere (to decide), cera (wax) and cervus (deer). All of these words and meanings link the name to Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture, motherly relationships, and fertility

CereCere has long pink hair that she fashions in a bun and a bow and has it tied in yellow ribbons. Her outfit is a pink bikini, tied around her back with a string hanging around her neck and has bracelets with a pink flower on it. She wears a short slightly transparent skit with a pink design on it. She wears pink shoes with a pink flower on it. On her forehead, is a circle jewel.
Senshi
Sailor Ceres had pink hair—the same shade as Sailor Chibi Moon's—styled in a high bun with a bright yellow ribbon. She also had droopy ponytails—contained in hair bands the same pink shade as her hair—hanging in a circular fashion by her ears with two long hair bands trailing down with little wisps of her hair peaking out at the ends, securing the rest of her hair into two low ponytails. She had pink eyes that matched her hair color. Her sailor uniform consisted of a white leotard with a plum purple chest bow and a pink star-shaped brooch affixed to it. Her stripe-less sailor collar was pink, her choker was pink, her earrings were pink roses, and her tiara was gold with a pink star. She had white bubble-like sleeves with a double row of white trim and white bicep-length gloves with pink padding. Her skirt was pink with a white bow that had a slight sheen of pink at the back, and her footwear consisted of white knee-high boots with pink inverted triangular arches with yellow stars.
Background
Manga
In the manga, CereCere and the rest of the Quartet were reverted to their Amazon Stone and she was discovered to be Sailor Ceres, one of the four protectors of Chibiusa. Since she was the leader of the Sailor Quartet, Ceres had most of the speaking lines. After the Amazoness Quartet was defeated and reverted to their Amazon Stones, they were brought to Neo-Queen Serenityby Sailor Saturnwho asked the queen to use her power on them. As a result, the Sailor Quartet appeared, and revealed that they will remain asleep in the Amazon until Sailor Chibi Moonneeded them as guardians. The four Sailor Senshithen returned to their sleep until the 30th Century. When Chibiusa (in the 30th Century), felt that Sailor Moon and everyone else's lives were in danger, she transformed determined to travel back in time and help them. At that moment, Sailor Ceres and the rest of the Sailor Quartet appeared to go to the past with her.
Once they arrived they found Sailor Moon, Princess Kakyuuand Sailor Chibi Chibihanging from crosses due to their fight against Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon. The Quartet and Chibi Moon freed them, and the Quartet then destroyed the evil Sailor Animamate with one attack.
Later, in the battle against Sailor Chi and Sailor Phi, they helped withstanding Phi's attacks. But when Sailor Moon had to fight the Solar System Senshi turned evil by Galaxia, the Quartet was defeated by a combination of Sailor Mercury's Mercury Aqua Rhapsody and Sailor Mars' Mars Flame Sniper, while attempting to shield Sailor Moon.
Anime
CereCere is the oldest of the Amazoness Quartet, the most mature, and is also very feminine. She possesses the yellow orb, and has pink hair. She is the Flower Magician of the Dark Moon Circus. Her circus act is the trapeze. She tends to be arrogant and haughty, and chases after people that will highlight her perceived beauty for her.
CereCere attacks by creating plants (such as man-eating plants) and shooting smaller yellow orbs from her orb. The Lemures she summons (JaraJara Jou and TogeToge Jo) have the appearance of plants as well. She can also hypnotize people, either to come to them or to fall asleep. She does this to VesVes, JunJun, and PallaPalla at one point so she could go after Zirconia's current target.
Eventually, she and the others of the Amazoness Quartet fought the Sailor Senshi and were winning until Sailor Chibi Moon summoned Pegasus and Sailor Moon attacked them with Moon Gorgeous Meditation. They eventually took Sailor Chibi Moon and tried to ride Pegasus and take the golden crystal, but were imprisoned by Zirconia inside mirrors. She returned them to the main room and drained their power. However, CereCere, along with the others, smashed her yellow orb on the ground, and they were all released from Nehelenia's power, giving up eternal childhood.
The Amazoness Quartet aided in the fight against Nehelenia by switching the golden crystal around with a pineapple and giving it to Sailor Moon. After Nehelenia was defeated and left Earth, CereCere was last seen with the others of the Amazoness Quartet in the final episode, deciding to leave quietly without making a fuss and that they might see the Sailor Senshi again someday.

- Although CereCere's primary theme color is pink, her Amazon Stone is yellow.
- Naoko Takeuchi has stated that CereCere is sexy and talks in a very aristocratic tone.
- She is a trapeze artist for the Circus.
- In TokyoPop's translation, she was named CerleCerle due to a mistake.
- In the Mixx translation of the manga, she was called "Sailor Celis". This was most likely due to a translation error, which is rather fatal. Referring to the Urban Dictionary, anyone with the name "Celis" is under the protection of the Mafia.
- She is the Asteroid Senshi counterpart of Sailor Venus.
- Although she does not have an official transformation symbol like the other Sailor Senshi, there is a scientific symbol for the dwarf planet Ceres (⚳) which is the sickle of the Roman goddess of harvest.
