In Crystal, Ami retains the same appearance as she did in the manga: jaw-length bobbed blue hair that is a few inches above her shoulders and blue eyes. She wears her Juuban middle school uniform, coupled with a grey cardigan, short white socks, and brown penny loafers.
Ami makes her debut appearance in Crystal, although it was in a non-speaking cameo, at the very end of episode one, where she retreats for cover at Juuban middle school as a rainstorm begins to occur.
She reappears in the second episode; Act 2 - Ami - Sailor Mercury, in which she becomes Sailor Mercury for the first time in Crystal. In this episode she is seen as a shy girl without many friends. When Usagi meets her, they hit it off well. She is soon brainwashed by the Dark Kingdom at the Crystal Seminar, but is snapped out of it when Usagi as Sailor Moon is in danger. Seeing Sailor Moon in danger allowed her to awaken her powers, and she transformed into Sailor Mercury.
- Unlike the original anime, and the first act of the manga, Ami makes a cameo appearance in the first episode of Crystal, in the same vein as in PGSM.
- She is voiced by Kate Higgins in the American English dub, while Tabita St. Germain use name Amy, since Karen Bernstein and Liza Balkan.
- Her name is a homonym meaning "Asian Beauty of Water".
- Ami appears to be more sociable in Crystal compared to other versions.
