Akumuuda is a droid summoned by Petz and Calaveras to defeat the Sailor Guardians. She appeared in episode 22 of Sailor Moon R.

Information

Akumuuda was summoned and appeared from the sky in a cloud of smoke. She immediately hypnotized Sailor Moon and put her into a deep sleep before the rest of the Guardians showed up. Sailor Mars damaged her with a scroll attack but she turned into smoke and went inside Sailor Moon's body to drain her energy with the intent of killing her. A kiss from Tuxedo Mask drove Akumuuda out of Sailor Moon. Akumuuda then removed her horn and it turned into a saber. She lunged towards Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask but only managed to wound Tuxedo Mask before meeting her fate at the hands of Sailor Moon's Moon Princess Halation. Akumuuda is the final droid sent by the Spectre Sisters.

Powers

She can hypnotize people and put them into eternal sleep. While they are in a deep sleep, she can enter their dreams and drain their energy. She has a horn protruding from her forehead that she can remove and cast out a saber. She also can fly and turn her body into smoke.

Akumuuda's name is a pun on the Japanese word "akumuda" (悪夢だ), which means "nightmare."
Akumuuda is among the Droids that appear in Sailor Moon: Another Story.
Akumuuda sings in the DiC English dub and speaks much more than in the anime. A brief scene where she enters Sailor Moon's dream is cut from the DiC English dub.
In the DiC English dub, Hypnotica's attempt to put the Sailor Guardians to sleep was sung to the tune of Brahms' "Lullaby". She also spoke more in the dub and tried to actually "hypnotize" the Sailor Guardians, whereas, in the original, she repeated the words "Yume" (夢; dream) and "nemuri" (眠り; sleep) over and over and simply put them to sleep.
