"Act 16 - I've Got to Save Miss Osaka!" is the 16th episode of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. It aired on January 24, 2004.
Summary[]
Naru is jealous of Ami's friendship with Usagi. But when she is kidnapped by a Youma, Ami fights hard with the other Sailor Guardians to save her.
Plot[]
Continuing from the end of the previous episode, Ami and Rei were standing with Makoto in an open plaza when the ground starts to fade from beneath Makoto's feet that causes her to slide down the side of the pit which had just appeared. Ami and Rei rushed over to it and grabbed Makoto's arms. When they had arrived there, they saw that the pit slopes down to a hole. At the center of the hole, a youma was there. Ami and Rei transform into Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars. Sailor Mercury (Ami) grabs Makoto's hand while Sailor Mars uses Youma Taisan to attack the youma, but it disappears before the attack hits it. Then, Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars both pull Makoto out of the pit. Once Makoto is free, the pit disappears. She observes it and now realizes that these pits that had mysteriously appeared out of nowhere were why many people had kept disappearing.
At Karaoke Crown's secret base, the girls talk to Usagi and Luna about what had happened. Rei tells them that she thinks the youma had kidnapped the missing people. Luna agrees with Rei and states that the youma might have taken the missing people to steal their energy. She tells the girls that they need to do is to find the place where the missing people were being kept. Makoto asks Usagi where she was while this was going on. Usagi didn't want to tell them that she was with Mamoru and instead makes up a story about how she was with Naru and was attacked by a youma, which she had fought off by herself. Ami, who was concerned, ask Usagi if Naru was injuried by the youma, but she assures Ami that Naru is fine. Usagi was pleased that Ami was concerned about her friend. In the meantime, Makoto sneezes for one time and tells Rei that it she is fine and that she is getting a cold.
At Tsukino House, Usagi was lying in bed and wonders if Mamoru is doing all right. Suddenly, she sits up and asks herself why is she thinking about him. She decides instead to think about Tuxedo Mask, but finds it difficult to get Mamoru out of her head.
The next morning, Usagi is still thinking about him while she is walking to school and decides that because it is her fault that he was injured that it was perfectly normal for her to be concerned for him. Ami walks up behind her and sees Usagi. She smiles and goes to join her friend when Naru suddenly appears, who proceeds to tease Usagi about Mamoru. As Usagi insists to Naru that she is wrong and that she doesn't really like her, she notices Ami and asks her to walk together with Naru. Naru watches this and frowns. She remembers her last encounter with Ami. Usagi tells Naru that Ami had been concerned about her. Naru, sounding offended, demands to know why. Dismayed, Usagi grabs her arm and walks off with her, throwing an apologetic glance back at Ami.
At school, Ms. Haruna gives the class an assignment to practice having an English conversation in pairs. Ami glances over at Usagi, but Naru asks Usagi to be her partner first, which Usagi agrees. Usagi sees Ami alone and invites her to join them. Ami politely refuses and says that she will wait until someone else finished since it is only a 2-person conversation. Naru gets angry at that and tells Ami that she should just honestly say that she wants to work with Usagi and tells her that she is trying to make herself look good. Usagi tries to intervene, but Naru accuses her of taking Ami's side. Ms. Haruna appears and says that if they are going to fight, she will assign partners. Usagi starts her conversation, but she pauses to reassure Ami that Naru didn't mean what she had said.
Meanwhile, in the Dark Kingdom, Nephrite apologizes to Queen Beryl for his failures and promises her that he will find the Princess and the Silver Crystal, but Kunzite mocks him and says that he can do it better. As an example of his success, Kunzite mentions his "energy farm" which Makoto almost fell into earlier: with that, humans are caught in the Youma's trap and are kept alive so that their energy continually feeds into the Dark Kingdom to awaken Queen Metalia. He suggests to Nephrite that he can serve as his assistant. This infuriates the other Shitennou. Queen Beryl intervenes and tells Kunzite that she will use his energy farm, but he will need to remember that he and Nephrite are the same rank and both serve her. After a pause, Kunzite reluctantly bows to her.
Meanwhile, Ami is walking down the street when she sees Naru heading her direction. She glances about, wondering if she should leave when suddenly she hears Naru scream as the Youma's pit opens under her feet. Ami runs over and tries to grab her hand but couldn't quite reach her and Naru slides into the youma's trap. Rei and Usagi come running and find Ami staring at the ground in disbelief. They confirm that it was the same pit that Makoto had saw. Usagi kneels on the ground, looking for any sign of it as Ami looks on and Rei watches her, concerned. Then, their cellphones started to ring and Luna tells the girls that she had found the place where the missing people were being kept at.
Rei, Ami, and Usagi run into a large, open building and Luna meets them. Rei senses that a barrier had been in place. Usagi sees Naru walking by on the next floor and charges up towards them. Rei shouts a warning to her but Usagi runs headlong into the invisible barrier and bounces off. Ami reaches out her hands and feels the barrier. Luna explains to the girls that the captured people are behind it and that their energy is slowly being siphoned off. She suggests that if they combine their powers, they might be able to break the barrier. So they transform into Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, and Sailor Mars.
On the count of 3, they send their power at the barrier but it explodes in their faces and threw them back. Sailor Mercury tells them to try again but it had the same result. Determined, Sailor Mercury tries it one more time, this time by herself. But it fails. She then tries it again but it fails. Sailor Mars and Sailor Moon try to get her to stop and ask why she is determined. She declares that she has to save Naru and stands up to prepare for another try. Sailor Moon is surprised that she is determined to save Naru even after they had fought. She thinks that she was nice enough to be able to do such a thing. Suddenly, Sailor Moon had an idea and charges off.
While she is gone, Sailor Mercury admits that she is not really nice but that she wants to save Naru because she thinks it is her fault that Naru got captured. She was actually jealous of Naru's friendship with Usagi and she thinks that if it wasn't her fault so she might have been able to help her before. Sailor Mercury sinks to her knees and declares that she had been a horrible person for making Usagi think that she was a nice person when she was not. Sailor Mars tells her angrily that everyone has a dark side and it is not strange or bad to be jealous and also declares that it is definitely not her fault that couldn't save Naru from the Youma before.
Later, Sailor Moon returns with Sailor Jupiter in tow. She insists that her cold is fine says to Sailor Moon that they should have called her earlier. Sailor Mars then notices a crack on the barrier and Sailor Moon says that they can break it with one more shot. Together, the 4 of them send their power towards the barrier and it shatters. The Sailor Guardians charge just in time to see the trapped people collapse as their energy is being drained.
The 4 Sailor Guardians search for the Youma and they find it in a hallway in the building. After a brief fight, Sailor Mercury destroys the Youma with Mercury Aqua Mist. The other Sailor Guardians congratulate her and Sailor Jupiter sneezes which earns an apology from Sailor Moon for involving her in the fight while she was still sick. Luna arrives and tells Sailor Moon to give back energy to the people who had theirs stolen. Sailor Moon nods and summons her Moonlight Stick. She holds it out and concentrates. It starts to glow pink. As the light shines on the Youma's victims, they are revived.
The next day at school, Usagi's class is making cookies. Ms. Haruna tells them to split into groups of 2. Usagi wonders what she should do about Ami and Naru. But before she can say anything, Ami walks up to Naru. She tells Naru that she doesn't want to fight, but she just isn't going to give up on wanting to work with Usagi, because she is not that nice of a person. Naru looks surprised for a moment. She then smiles and agrees. The two of them decide that they will work together. Usagi is happy for her friends until she realizes that this will leave her without a partner. This ends up having her work with Ms. Haruna.
Once the cookies are done, the girls write cards to show them who they are giving them to. Ami's cookies are for her mother and Naru teases that she is giving cookies to her boyfriend. Usagi indignantly denies this, but her card says that it is addressed to Mamoru. She thinks that they are just a thank-you gift, for his help the other day. The girls start bickering in a friendly manner, while in the background, purple lighting flashes the sky.
In the Dark Kingdom, the lighting strikes Queen Beryl's palace. She wonders what it is. Kunzite smirks and tells her that it is a sign of Queen Metalia's revival. The ground starts to shake and Nephrite moves to shield Queen Beryl. A bright purple light starts to pulsate as Metalia moans. In another part of the Dark Kingdom, there is a wall with 4 crevices. One of them begins to glow with yellow light and a stone falls out of it. The stone starts to glow and then expands. It becomes Jadeite.
Meanwhile, Usagi is walking down the street with a bag of cookies in her hand and a piece of paper in the other. She arrives at a large apartment complex and compares it to the paper. She observes that if he is there, he must be rich. She pauses and then wonders why her heart is beating fast because the one she loves is Tuxedo Mask. Usagi sees Mamoru emerge from the building and smiles. She hides the cookies behind her back. Then, an unfamiliar woman follows after him and takes Mamoru's arm. Mamoru sees Usagi standing there and pauses for a moment, looking somewhat uncomfortable. Then, the woman asks, "What's wrong?" He insists that it is nothing and keeps walking. Usagi thinks to herself that he has a girlfriend, so obviously there is nothing between them. She turns away looking sad as the episode concludes.
