Usagi tags along with Chibiusa to meet her new best friend, meanwhile Mimete targets a popular manga author for his pure heart.
Usagi and Chibiusa are in the bathtub together and Chibiusa is in a good mood and admits she's found a new pretty friend. Usagi automatically assumes the new friend is a boy, but when Chibiusa won't tell her anything about them the two begin to wrestle.
Later Mamoru meets up with Michiru, Haruka, and Setsuna who recognizes Mamoru as King Endymion as he also recognizes them from the past in the Silver Millennium and the girls all transform into their Senshi identities, Sailor Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto while Mamoru quickly transforms into Tuxedo Mask while one of the fallen leaves are covering his transformation. They explain to Tuxedo Mask why they can't work with Sailor Moon and the other Sailor Senshi. They continue on to say they are the Outer Sailor Senshi who guard the solar system and are stronger than the other Sailor Senshi to make sure no one terrorizes the universe. They blame themselves for letting intruders, the Death Busters, into the solar system and onto Earth. They tell Tuxedo Mask that the Death Busters are their problem, that he and the other Senshi can't handle them.
Ami and Minako head to Makoto's house to ask if Chibiusa was around to talk to her. They find out she wanted to make a good impression since she had been invited to her new friend's house. To prepare she visited each of the girl's homes to get advice on what to wear, what to bring, and what to say. Makoto gave Chibiusa a bag of cookies to take. Ami, Mina, and Makoto then go visit Rei who she seems upset. Usagi said she would go with Chibiusa to her new friend's house and snuck off while Rei wasn't looking.
Usagi and Chibiusa are on their way to Chibiusa's friend's house and grab a manga to bring as well. Meanwhile, Professor Tomoe promises he will capture the Pure Hearts Crystals of humans in order to awaken the Messiah of Silence. After the two reach the house Usagi sees the figure of Kaorinite and becomes startled. Professor Tomoe then introduces her as his assistant Kaori. The Professor asks Kaori to take the girls into the living room to wait for Hotaru. Usagi considers the situation safe and the Professor goes to his lab to call upon Mimete who tells him she's found a new pure heart target. The author of the manga Usagi and Chibiusa bought on their way here, Ukon Katakuri.
After waiting, Usagi and Chibiusa are finally greeted by Chibiusa's new friend, Hotaru Tomoe and Usagi is shocked to find out it's a girl. As Hotaru takes the two upstairs Kaori comes in with a tray of coffee and offers to take it to her room and Hotaru gets upset, telling her not to interfere with household affairs. Usagi and Chibiusa are confused by Hotaru's actions and Hotaru takes the tray and the three continue upstairs. Hotaru then explains her father is a scientist and that Kaori helps out in both the lab and in the house. After talking a bit Hotaru wants to know more about the two and while Chibiusa is surveying the room Hotaru collapses and has a fit. Hotaru sees Usagi's transformation brooch and talks about how beautiful it is. She gradually begins to be possessed by a powerful dark force, which states that the Cosmic Heart Compact's vast power is strengthening and revitalizing her.
Chibiusa then gives Hotaru her gift and in the process, the flyer for the author's autograph signing drops into Usagi's lap and the two start fighting about who should have known about it. At the bookstore, Ukon is done signing and is heading home when Mimete and a Daimon U-Henshuu. Usagi shows up after running to get to the signing before it was over with Hotaru and Chibiusa and sees the Daimon taking Ukon's pure heart. Chibiusa takes Hotaru away to the arcade and Usagi transforms. The Daimon attacks by throwing razor-sharp book pages and her fingers then turn into scissors and Sailor Moon seems helpless until Sailor Pluto appears and uses Dead Scream. The other Outer Senshi appear and advise Sailor Moon to leave while Sailor Neptune attacks with Deep Submerge.
Sailor Uranus attacks with World Shaking to crush U-Henshuu's paper projectiles as tries to attack them both. But Sailor Venus then appears and uses the Venus Love-Me Chain to stop U-Henshuu from attacking. The other Senshi appear along with Tuxedo Mask who explains to the Outer Senshi that even though they are strong the Inner Senshi group fights together. Mimete is now frustrated and orders the Daimon to kill them all but the Daimon loses her weaponry. Sailor Moon sees an opportunity and transforms into Super Sailor Moon and destroys U-Henshuu with the Rainbow Moon Heartache.
Later that night in the tub again Usagi and Chibiusa are talking about her playdate with Hotaru at the arcade and how even though Hotaru's family is a bit messy Hotaru is a good girl and that Chibiusa wants to be good friends with her and a close up of Hotaru who is smiling.
